Funding Sources
There are a range of funding sources that could assist new small business owners. However, a number of them require at least 12 months operating and financial statements to access any grants or loans.
If you are still in the first 12 months operating and will not be able to access these grants or loans, the below sources may be an option;
Regional Business Partner Network

The fund provides business owners with 50% subsidy of training costs from approved Service Providers (including Tuhi Stationery), up to a maximum of $5,000 +GST per year.
First step to access fund is to register your business with the Regional Business Partners Network, and once approved, to meet with your local business growth advisor to identify your training needs for your business. At this stage, you can discuss retaining our services to support your business management training.
Poutama Trust
Poutama Trust may also assist you to connect with training support via their networks.
Te Puni Kokiri
As at September 2024, it is unclear what Te Puni Kokiri will be supporting through their Maori Enterprises division or fund, but details can be found here.
Iwi & Hapu Trusts
Your own iwi or hapu may have business support in place, or is advisable to also check in with them about what options are available to support your business development.
