A waka tauihu — the carved prow — rises against a sky moving through deep blue to brilliant gold and amber at the horizon. In the far distance, across still water, a waka makes its way home. The carving dominates the foreground in extraordinary detail: every koru, every surface alive with the craft of the tōhunga whakairo who made it.
This is a puzzle about looking closely. The tauihu rewards the hours you spend with it — the more you study the carving, the more you find.
