Matariki — Limited Edition 1,000-Piece Puzzle
Matariki is both the name of the star cluster and the name of its mother star — the wife of Rehua, whose rising signals the Māori new year. In this work, Theresa Reihana gives her form: a wāhine gazing directly outward, her face bathed in deep blue, tā moko tracing her chin, koru patterns moving across her cheek and brow. Around her, the stars of the cluster scatter across the darkness — her whānau, her context, her sky.
She rises each year as a sign of reflection, hope, unity, and goodwill. Spend enough time assembling this puzzle and you'll understand why.
