A hei tiki — richly carved, deeply green — hangs at the centre of a luminous circle, suspended from a carved tāhei against a deep red and ochre ground. Above it, a face looks downward in quiet contemplation. The composition speaks of the weight and gift of what is passed down — the taonga that carries whakapapa forward through generations.
Where Embrace Mokopuna looks forward, this one looks back. Together they form a natural pair.
